Our working balm was formulated for hands that work hard. Our limited edition spring 2025 Cottonwood Bud balm is comprised simply of local grass-fed and grass-finished beef tallow, rendered in-house, local cold-pressed sunflower oil, and locally-gathered cottonwood buds. It is a balanced balm that is easily absorbed into the skin.
We do not add beeswax to our balm, so it is soft and spreadable. For a firmer balm, keep refrigerated.
Our Ingredients
We work directly with family farms to source our ingredients. We render the tallow in-house from cattle raised by Gulden Farm and Hover Farms, both in Germantown, NY, and the sunflower seed oil is grown and manufactured by Hudson Valley Cold-Pressed Oils in Pleasant Valley, NY.
The Cottonwood Buds are sustainably foraged on a friend's property. Cottonwood buds have long been known for their sticky resin and musky smell that heralds spring. Buds can only be harvested for a short time window, and are known for their anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties thanks to natural salicin, similar to aspirin.
Tallow is high in oleic acid, which is prized for treating dry and aging skin because it replenishes moisture while limiting water loss. It is also known for acting as a natural protectant from skin damage.
Sunflower seed oil is high in vitamin E, which is considered an anti-inflammatory agent great for addressing sun damage.
Suggested Use
We recommend using it on hands, elbows, and knees, or wherever your skin shows signs of working hard. A little goes a very long way, so start small.
Storage and Shelf Life
Working balm is made entirely of natural oils, and will soften when exposed to heat. We recommend storing your working balm in a cool dark place, like your bathroom cabinet or a drawer in your kitchen. Use within 9 months of batch date.
