The best collaborations, we think, push you a bit beyond your comfort zone while still holding fast to the central themes and priorities that define you. At Quittner, those central themes are classic, historically-informed design, luxury-level craft, and creating work designed to long outlive us. Those three things are our guiding line, alongside making our work with our own hands. Whenever we bring in collaborators, the first consideration is whether they can meet those values: classic timelessness, craft, and longevity. We knew almost instantly upon seeing the work of Jessica Williams, even before meeting her, that we’d found a kindred spirit in these priorities.
It was all because of a pea green ceiling. Whomever had specified that ceiling for a kitchen understood design, was pulling from somewhere deep in the 20th century, and had a great sense of humor. We were working on our own room at the Kingston Showhouse and had to walk past the kitchen every day we were in the space. With each layer Jessica, Principal of interior design firm Hendley & Co, added, we saw more that delighted us. There was a tartan wallcovering, fine natural wood cabinetry, and just enough whimsy to make you chuckle without it starting to feel silly. “This,” we thought, “is the type of designer we want to work with.”
When Jessica moved to open RicRac, a design showroom just down the street from her firm’s office in Newburgh, New York, we figured we may have found an opening. Now only did we want our work to be in the showroom, we wanted to do something special.

From there, the HalliexHendley collection of Hallie lights was born. These three colors, exclusively available from RicRac and Quittner, speak to heritage and humor in a way that highlights what Hendley & Co is all about. Named Blueberry, Kiwi, and Marigold, and available in brass or polished nickel, they offer an opportunity to embrace color and have fun, whether in a mudroom, bedroom, or pantry. For use as a ceiling fixture or sconce, this trio stretches us out of our saturated neutral comfort zone while staying true to all of what we value, and we’re grateful to Jessica for this opportunity to have fun and create magic in the name of great design.
