Sketches and studies by Carl Von der Lancken, 1930s, son of Frank Von der Lancken, noted American painter and arts educator. The Von der Lanckens were known as "the first family of art in Tulsa" after Frank moved his family there to teach at the Philbrook Museum.
Carl is best known in archival material for being a passionate horseshoe thrower and leader in the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He was also "an instructor in international law and political theories" at the University of Tulsa. He died in 1993 at the age of 83 and is in the NHPA Horseshoes Hall of Fame.
