This art print was originally released in 1915 as part of a collection published by The University of the State of New York State Museum. Due to the popularity of the series, the collection was reprinted a few times between 1915 and 1930, each set compiled in a dated folio.
Below is the description of the collection from the original portfolio:
"This series of 106 plates are reprints from the plates used in the work entitled 'Birds of New York,' issued as volumes 1 and 2 of the New York State Museum Memoir 12. These plates carry the names of the birds represented and include all of the birds known to breed within or to visit the State of New York. The full descriptive account of these birds and general accounts of the importance of the birds to the people of the State are to be found in the volumes from which these plates have been extracted and if further information is desired concerning these volumes application may be made to the Director of the State Museum."
